Principal Investigator: Nathan Thielman, MD
Dr. Thielman is Associate Professor of Medicine and Pathology in the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health at Duke University Medical Center. He is a Senior Fellow in the Health Inequalities Program, Director of the Duke Global Health Residency Program, U.S.-based Director for Training for Duke’s AIDS International Training and Research Program (AITRP), and Clinical Site Leader for the Duke’s domestic Adult AIDS Clinical Trials Group site.

Project Director: Vivianne Valdes Hurtado, ANP, MSN
Vivianne Hurtado is the Project Director for the NC AIDS Education & Training Center. Vivianne coordinates and facilitates training events for clinical audiences about HIV/AIDS. The clinical trainings concentrate on HIV testing, treatment, intensive on-site preceptorships, and specifics regarding infectious disease in the medical, nursing, dental, and pharmacology fields.
Vivianne received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Duke University in 1996. She has over seven years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner serving HIV/AIDS patients and other underserved populations. From 2003 - 2005, Vivianne managed a Ryan White Title III Clinic, Northern Outreach, Clinic in Henderson, NC.

Project Coordinator: Kimberly Walker
Kimberly Walker is the project coordinator of the NC AIDS Education & Training Center (NCAETC). In addition she supervises the Health Inequalities Training Team and coordinates NCAETC training programs. Kimberly's responsibilities include designing and implementing training curriculum for community service providers, HIV infected peer educators, and students at local Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Kimberly graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in both African-American Studies and Psychology. She received majority of her public health education working as a training specialist at American Social Health Association which formerly housed the CDC's National STD and AIDS Hotlines, CDC's National Immunization Information Hotline, and CDC's Public Response Service.

Outreach Specialist: Genevieve Ankeny, MSEd
Genevieve Ankeny is the outreach specialist for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Targeted Capacity Expansion program. She educates and leads outreach to increase enrollment for a dually diagnosed
study. She serves as the Chair of the Awareness in Action Task Force which serves five rural counties addressing issues of HIV/AIDS. She is also a member of the Duke (DART)Community Advisory Board and the Project StraighTalk CAB.
Genevieve received her Bachelor of the Arts degree in Journalism at Temple University in 1992. In 1996, she earned a Master of Science degree in Education, specializing in human sexuality education from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to working with the Health Inequalities Program, Genevieve worked as an outreach coordinator at a Ryan White Clinic which served five rural counties.
